burning the midnight oil
I feel like I’m getting back to my roots whenever I pull out my gouache palettes and watercolor boards. I’ve been doing many large paintings lately stepping a bit outside of my box. It has been a great learning experience as I explored patterns and new color combinations. I noticed when I started working on these smaller illustrations for Opera Grand Rapids my paint style was looser, more spontaneous. So here is the lesson of the day: When your work begins to feel tired, mediocre and dull why not try something new? Basket weaving, any one?
